Roermond, Netherlands — 2025
The Bachelor End Project represents the result of three years of architectural education at TU Eindhoven. Set in the city of Roermond, the assignment asked for a building that could serve multiple programmes. At the beginning of the project, a theme had to be chosen. Inspired by the more historical character of Roermond I decided to center my theme around ancient Roman and Greek architectural principles and translate them into a more modern vision. As the program within the building housed many different functions amongst which a retreat provided with many facilities; the concept to design a collage of different experiences was established. Every room with a different function will house a different typology of architecture and a different floor plan. This eclectic architectural experience is also visible in the facades with different window shapes.
This bachelor end project was challenging but valuable. I struggled with balancing different concept principles and from this I learned that architecture depends on balance, proportion, and harmony, and that strong design comes from how elements work together. I also developed independence in handling a large-scale project, improving my drawing and rendering skills, allowing clearer communication and a stronger architectural vision on material quality and atmosphere.
Overall, the process was intense to execute in a relatively short period but rewarding, strengthening my critical thinking and showing off well the level of skill and design I developed during my bachelor.
